The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, along with the U.S. exchange community, recognized the importance of youth exchange as a key component to building bridges between citizens of the U.S. and countries around the world.

The program is funded by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational & Cultural Affairs (ECA) to provide scholarships for international high school students for one academic year in the U.S. YES students serve as “youth ambassadors” of their home country, promoting mutual understanding by forming lasting relationships with their host families and communities. Participants live with a host family, attend an American high school, acquire leadership skills, and engage in activities to learn about U.S. society and values; they also help educate Americans about their home country and culture.

Te. To.

European Youth Weeks (EYW) 2014

It turned out to be an adventurous journey from the very beginning.  A challenge to travel on your own, to be in another country. I’ve had great expectations and  I have created even greater memories. EYW was an unforgettable experience.2

In Waldmunchen, Germany I met 40 new people from 10 different countries. I got closer to their customs, their culture, their sights, their language. I  found out many similarities and many differences.  There I improved my language skills and became more confident – aware of my abilities and  open to speak up. The most important is that I got to know myself, my feelings, my reactions better and learned how to control them. Throughout the 10 fantastic days we’ve played a lot of games either for fun and warming up or to  share our opinions on  important issues and develop our personalities. These games helped us to break the ice and learn more about the others. For the short time spent there I’ve made many friends, found amazing people with whom was hard to say goodbye.

The time passed  fast but every moment was special!
